Erster Drohnen-Flughafen in Boulder City
Boulder City, etwa 30 Kilometer westlich von Las Vegas, soll der Standort für den ersten kommerziellen Drohnen Flughafen der Welt sein. Das plant das Unternehmen AeroDrome und die Bürgerversammlung hat diesem Projekt bereits zugestimmt. Ein Droneport ist eine Einrichtung speziell auf das Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) zugeschnitten. Im Gegensatz zu anderen geplanten Projekten, ist der Eldorado bereits voll finanziert. Er hat die volle Unterstützung und Genehmigung der Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Das bedeutet für ausgebildete Piloten, dass sie in öffentlichen Lufträumen ihre Dronen steuern dürften.
“Unmanned air systems are inherently different from manned aircraft and require a whole new type of expertise in order to be executed safely,” sagt Jonathan Daniels, Präsident of The Aerodrome. “This historic development has far-reaching implications, and will bring with it new aviation business opportunities, jobs and a profound new reputation for the U.S. as the world’s leader in Unmanned Air Systems.”
Auf einem 20 Hektar großen Gelände wird eine 1.500 Meter lange und 15 Meter breite Startbahn gebaut, zusammen mit einigen Servicegebäuden.
“There are currently over 2,500 companies in the U.S. with FAA 333 exemption to fly commercial drones, and only one place in the world where they now take priority over manned aircraft. This droneport is the model for the rest of the country, if not the world.” sagt Jonathan Daniels weiter.
